Small sketches

This is a view from my studio window and shows the steeple of the local Catholic church. The tree in front of it is a large tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), which isn't normally found at our altitudes. I'm always fascinated by the spectacle of colours created by the changing seasons and weather conditions. Therefore, as an exercise, I repeatedly captured this view in small sketches over a period of 12 months. All of the paintings were created on the back of unsuccessful watercolours.

Nicely done, Heidi!

My favorite is the second one in the bottom row.
