Sky window

This was the sky from my garden a week or so ago. It created this wonderful 'window'. I waited for a seagull to fly 'into' it and at the right time took the photo. The painting is done in two passes, first a gradation of cerulean/lavendar from the top right down, leaving the white cloud highlight and pulling out a few more with tissue. Then the darker clouds on top with ultramarine/cobalt blue and light red. I like how the colours have separated a bit. The seagull was added last.

It was a quick painting to make, you have to work with a certain amount of speed and keep an eye of the drying of the paint. I attach the photo I took, so if anyone else would like to give it a go and add it to this post, then please do.
