A few weeks ago, Albuquerque got a good rainstorm. Storms like these are infrequent in late May, especially in the past few years. The next day, all sorts of clouds piled up over the mountain, and I quickly took several photos of the scene. I chose to use several granulating paints that mimicked the shifting light. After I painted the sky, I realized that the lacy film of thinner clouds did not show, so I went over the blue patches with a dry white watercolor pencil. The rough paper allowed me to present the thin clouds correctly, and emphasize the brilliant sunlight on the cumulus clouds.
I LOVE clouds and painting them to how I see them is a challenge! Good job!
