The low, slanting light of a late autumn afternoon attracted me to paint this. I used a wax candle to try and preserve highlights sparkling on the foliage, it didn't really work, so resorted to dry brush instead.

It's on Jackson's eco paper, which has a really rough uneven surface, almost like coarse canvas, and it absolutely devours paint, but I do like it for certain subjects.
