Low tide at Cortadura beach, a sketch

Although I have a sketch book for drawings, I did not have one that could be used for watercolour. After watching the last video from Oliver I bought one this morning and this is the first sketch I produce. It is taken from a photo that I took last month during our vacations in Cadiz waking on the Cortadura beach on a late afternoon. It turned out to be a good exercise because I discovered that I have to be particularly careful with the large wash representing the sand, and I also found the figure more difficult that I had anticipated.

The sketch book is Hahnemühle, 100% cotton, 250 g/m2. Colors are W&N.

Comments welcome as usual.

Good composition, I love the simplicity which was probably not easy to achieve - the person, shadow, footprints and reflection all radiating out from a single focal point
