I went about 4 hours walking around downtown Portland where I live on one sunny Friday. Okay, first sunny Friday in months. The city is lively and I am surprised to encounter this quiet spot for a few minutes before the light change and traffic flows in once more.

My little one asked me as I painted it this afternoon, why not add people crossing street and buzzing around? I looked at this little guy and said, because I was stunned by the moment of calmness in busy city for once and would like to capture it. If you found the picture not conveying the calmness, because he was talking to me the entire 90 minutes while this painting was worked on. Oh, I love him so much!
