Shored boats

A painting made some time ago after an example that was shown in a course that I took part in for a short time.

I am pleased with the sky. I feel I am becoming more confident in painting skies. I am learning to plan better, decide what I want and paint in layers. That way I am giving myself more time. That works for me.

I am also quite pleased with the foreground also here working in layers and deciding beforehand what colours I will use and deciding on matching hue and tonality. Planning truly pays off.

The perspectives of the cabine on the right need improvement, I noticed too late that the lines are not running into their vanishing point. But hey, that’s something that will have my attention.

Happy painting.

Kind regards, Ron

It is a beautiful painting! I just read about perspective in a book by Ray Campbell Smith. And he states that breaking perspective ruleswhen painting old buildings and sheds -might just help to show their age. They settle unevenly into the ground and so on. I quote: "As long as we don't do it for the hell of it!"

It is a great painting!
