St Catherine's Hill, Winchester

Following Edo's advice about using tonal sketches, I dug out a sketch of St Catherine's Hill that I did on location a few months ago. I had a go at painting it today, deciding on colours as I went along, partly from imagination, partly from memory.

The shadows in the foreground are a bit murky, but other than that I'm fairly pleased with it. I can recommend the exercise because, as always, the process is more important than the end result.

Well done. Love the colors and the detail in the foreground and that gently easing up as you progress into the background. And yes that is a cool sky!
