Trying a new color, but I don't think I like it...
Of course, we get tempted when we see someone extolling a new color, but I should have known better....Green Gold.
I think I could have mixed my own version of this color which would have been more harmonious with my palette. I know also that different manufacturers' versions of Green Gold vary. This one was called Rich Green Gold by Daniel Smith. Anyone else use a Green Gold that you are happy with?
So then when I finished playing with the Green Gold by making this painting tonight, I put down my brush, with that feeling of well, I think this is a good place to stop. But besides not being quite happy with that color, as I was studying it, I became more conscious of a problem or at least an issue I guess I have because it crops up rather often. I seem to leave what some would call an unresolved area in some paintings, such as the bottom right corner area in this one. I suppose it is somewhat of a vignette type of an area, and I usually end up signing my paintings in this unresolved space if it has one, although I did not consciously leave the area specifically for the signature.
I think that spending so much time studying whether I liked the color tonight gave me time to realize I do this and to question myself about why I unconsciously seemed to do it, and why, if I am honest, I rather like it. But then I thought, it might be a thing that bothers others and makes the painting seemed to be unfinished to them. So I thought I would ask you in the forum how this strikes you? And if you are a psychologist, you might diagnosis why you think I do it....😂
Would the painting be better or more satisfying if I filled these spaces in? I guess I could do. This painting tonight was loosely inspired by several photos of an area I am familiar with.

I've done the same thing here in this little painting, which I have already signed..

Here it's around the top of this tree shading bluebells...

Which ones work or do any of them work?
What are the "rules" for vignettes?
And should this post be in the Discussion category rather than the Image Sharing one? 😊
And are there any other suggestions or critique you could offer for anything in any one of the three? I love the learning that the forum offers.

absolutely! :D
