Coppiced Willows in Autumn

These are adapted from sketches and pictures I did over the Summer around Evesham on the River Avon. All comments and advice gratefully received .

Beautiful handling of colors, especially in the modulation of colors in the foreground bank.

I've never seen coppiced willows, so I cannot offer much advice with them, but I do agree with the other comment that there is an aspect about your rendering of them that could be confusing to someone like me who is unfamiliar with them. The high contrast immediately draws the eye right to them and holds it.

Perhaps if you lifted a just a bit of color out of the very dark "truncated trunks" (sorry, I couldn't resist 😉) which would soften the contrast somewhat, they would not be as distracting from the rest of your lovely work.

If you did decide to lift out some pigment, you could do it down the center of each trunk which would give them a rounded effect which might be nice.
