Manitou Passage

This photo was taken on the Leelanau Peninsula in Northwest Michigan, looking west across Lake Michigan towards the North and South Manitou islands. It was a magical summer evening several years ago. I've always wanted to attempt to paint this scene but it's so intimidating that I never tried until recently. This is my first, and possibly last attempt. The clouds are overdone and then I added a lot of blue as contrast so they stood out more. If someone else would like to try it, you have my permission to use the photo as a reference. It would be interesting to see how someone else might attempt it!

Thank you, I enjoy watching it too. The reference photo is very good, that gave huge support for painting, so it was not difficult. The cloud has a shape of a running weasel with a long tail, by accident of course.
