Local inspiration
I once read that the number of photographs a person takes increases in proportion to the distance travelled away from their home. This has made me think about how familiarity with our daily surroundings can trick us into thinking that where we live is not worthy of painting and blind us to compositional possibilities.
It is a good discipline for me to try to counter these two tendencies whenever I'm out with the dog. Here is one such effort, featuring a fence (of course) and an abandoned bath tub.
