Morning has broken
Inspired by a photo from a friend. I have a copy of Hazel Soan's Art of the limited palette, this was painted with just 4 colours, ultramarine, burnt sienna, indian yellow and viridian. I does make a huge difference I think, it frees you up to work with the paint, and when time is of the essence that really helps. I built up three layers of clouds in the sky by rewetting the dry sheet and adding more pigment into it.
One other thing I learnt with this one. Usually I use masking tape to make a frame on the block, but this time I didnt and it didnt buckle so much. I wander if anyone else has had a similar experience.

I love the scene of light here! Wonderfull, Paul!
I personally find that the paper on block buckles the almost the same wether I have tape around or not. Though sometimes depending on the block glue weekens on the corners, but by that time im already done. So I use tape on the block only when I think I want a border on the piece. If I understood correctly what you were talking about.
