Sunny day on the water

I love it. I'm not a huge fan of modern art, but this has elements of it in a good way. Watercolor seems to be less adapted to Hockney-style paintings than oils, but this nicely uses the advantages of watercolor by being able to contrast the "landscape as still-life" aspect of the painting - the straight lines, the flat boat, with the more fluid and vague aspects in the water. So its a lovely mix. I once saw an oil painting with a perfectly photorealistic interior, but then the view outside the window was surrealist; a similar kind of effect. Real, but not real. Or perhaps not real, but real. I think this is good enough for a gallery in that sense. If you have more in the same style, good enough for a local exhibition, certainly, I would think. The 2D but 3D, the rectangle of water with the boat painted on top. Love it.
