A Run Down the Dry Wash

This painting is from a photo I took while on a field trip into a volcanic field northwest of Albuquerque. The horses saw our vehicles drive up and came running down to see if we were going to feed them. They were ranch horses, not feral. I used cobalt green light for the sagebrush, Maimeri Blu green gold for the the weedy shrubs and different umber mixes for the ground and grasses. I mixed various warm browns for the horses.

Not easy to get the scrubland looking realistic but you have achieved this well Susan. The colours work well contrasting against the colour of the horses. Really nice work.
