Old Battlefield Evening

I wanted to practice wet-in-wet and and try some bold colors. I used back of an aches paper from the block - it was way smother, but good for practice.

As suggested by lovely people here I added a river in the background to let eyes wonder. It stil looks a bit cartoonish for me, but over all I like how it turned out.

Hi LetoVa- this is a nice picture. I don’t think it is so much the shape of the river as it is the location. It is on the side of a hill, which rivers never do. They are always at the low point of the area. An exception might be a man made ditch, but then there would be high banks on both sides to contain the water. That’s very technical and I apologize. It’s a good piece. Maybe add some folks marching down the road?
