Those castle and cathedral towers make perfect visual points of interest for landscapes. The closest we come here are probably small town church spires. I'm not counting more industrial structures, like water towers, smoke stacks, and skyscrapers. They just don't have the same ability to blend into a natural landscape like castles and cathedrals, in my opinion.
