Two different works.

The first image is from Google Earth. I am fascinated by the geologic and geomorphic patterns that are revealed. This is a watercolor of Las Salinas, a collection of Ice Age playas (shallow, ephemeral lake beds) that is located at the western edge of the Great Plains in central New Mexico. They provide a wintering habitat for Sandhill Cranes. I liked the idea of using a crane's eye view, because they can fly in from great heights.

The second picture was done with watercolor pencils. My cousin's former home garden was decorated with several whimsical features, such as this. They just moved to senior citizens' housing, which does not have extensive gardening opportunities and I wanted to send them a housewarming present. The range of pigment colors seems to brought out my Inner Fauvist tendencies. I enjoy working with them, because of the departure from "standard" watercolor hues.

Susan, I like that very much, the pattern makes really a good watercolour.
