We often go ‘up north’ and this wild expanse of windswept land that leads to an estuary and then out to sea always gives me a sense of freedom. New Zealand is an island that has different weather patterns that appear out of the blue then are gone in a jiffy. This was one of those moments. It’s a raw landscape not soft and serene like

the UK countryside.

I’’ve been practicing with a limited palette , trying to find movement and contrast.
