Dragon Boat Practice

I was visiting Morrow Bay, California for the Birding Festival in January. While we were at our dinner table, the dragon boat went by. I took two cell phone shots (one fore, one aft) that I subsequently taped together. The bay was very calm at low tide, reflecting the beautiful sunset. This painting is a tribute to Michael Harding Quinacridone Gold, which made one of the smoothest washes I have ever painted. Much of the rigging on the sailboats and the figures were rendered with watercolor pencils, as my hands no longer can do long fine lines with a brush. Drawing with pencil is still fine for me.
