I really found myself in the zone painting this. I started on it as I usually do, really late and when I looked up again it was 2.30 in the morning!! Any other late night painters out there?

For this one the background glow is done wet on wet into the sky. Then I added the foreground grass and dabbed in with a scrunched up brush the tree leaves.

Then I added all the tree trunks and pulled it all together with the foliage and shadows.

For the 5 distant lights I found this masking fluid pen, which makes it much easier to control. Then I blur out the edges with a damp synthetic flat.
