Autumnal Ullswater
We were lucky enough to be able to spend a week in the Lake District for the Autumn half-term holidays, and although the trees were only just starting to turn, and the weather wasn't brilliant, we had a great time and I took far too many photos! So I've now got even more 'inspiration' photos, and I've just finished this painting of Ullswater. I'm showing it framed, as I think it looks nicer as a slightly smaller image! 😂

10"x7" Langton Prestige cold pressed 300gsm.
Here's the reference photo - I added the reeds in the foreground based loosely on a photo from a slightly different location, as it was lacking a bit of interest without them.

I've already been back to it and 'fiddled' a couple of times (adding the reeds and adjusting the reflections) and I'm now wondering whether to make the hillside on the right a bit of a 'richer' colour, or if I'm in danger of overworking it even more. Happy to hear critiques!

Great painting Helen!. You captured the scene and colors so well including the darker greens in the trees and reflections. Good sense of depth and contrast. The foreground weeds are a nice addition. Thanks for posting!
