Over the past few weeks, I have been working on a series of paintings and sketches to engage more deeply with the landscape of my home region. Due to the hot weather, there weren't as many green meadows this year; instead, the colors leaned more towards ochre and yellow tones. Many fields had already been harvested, too. That actually made things a bit easier for me, as the vast, monotonous green of summer can be a real challenge.

All in all, I am very pleased with the result, even though I can see plenty of room for improvement: sometimes the sky is too muddy, the forest in the background too green, the foreground overworked, or the shades of green lacking variety. Still, it was a fantastic learning experience to repeatedly explore the same landscape through a series of works.
