Struggle to simplify

This is a scene on my biking trail and I really enjoyed this particular spot. Perhaps because I spotted deers grazing here before. But doesn't matter how many times I have tried imagining my final painting will be, I still struggle with feel of it. Should I omit the majority grass in the middle ground? Okay, I admit this might be needed value study. Any suggestions is welcome. I uploaded the steps of my painting.

Initial wash

Second upper half

Second lower half

Which I think the fore ground is too much, so I sprayed water on it

And adding more details when it dries

And the end I am all lost... Well, I guess I should celebrate the attempt. :-)

Okay, this is my second attempt. Not sure if it is an improvement though. Do provide feedback if you have time. Thank you in advance!

Thank you all for your suggestion!!! I will give this another go. and just thought about it this morning, I'll move the pair of the dead tree trunks closer, perhaps to the right bottom third and enlarge it to show more detail there. And widen the stream . I agree the farther tree can be cooler in color, I also like the idea of softer far side grass. Ahh.. it is very nice to able to brainstorm across the world!!!! 😁
