I just love the top one, but the background hills and the front shore to my taste let the wonderful near hills and trees and the water sparkle down a little. For the background hills, I'd add a little color variety, less block color (add in some other color, mainly blues, wet-in-wet), and for the shore, maybe just some warmish drybrush strokes? But the middleground is just fantastic!
