Asian garden

I visited botanic garden last weekend. I dont personally like painting just flowers, but i still was inspired to paint and turns out there was an asian style garden outside of greenhouse.

I started it outside, sitting there on the bench, but finished at home, cause the wether was pretty chill and about to rain (hence purple-ish skies). I was thinking to use this sketch as a guide for a big painting, but, to be fair, I dont like this sketch. It feel messy and incoherent. All comments and critiques are welcome!

I think it would be a great learning exercise for you to take this sketch and make a larger painting from it, dealing with those identified problem areas. Making the decisions of what to leave in and what to take out can lead to real growth. Otherwise, you might just go on to another subject and take the same problem issues with you. As Trevor said, it is a bit complicated which can lead to confusion for the viewer, especially for someone who might be a relative beginner and who doesn't know how and where to leave visual breathing room in a painting. A larger format would also give you more space, as the elements seem a bit crowded. Hope these thoughts help! 😊
