Being outdoors - first experiences
The weather was finally nice yesterday and today so I decided to do some outdoor sketches. As you can see in the reference photo, where I live, we have a lot of forests, hills and meadows - actually - a lot of greenery š¤£. I was excited to try out my little outdoor equipment with a new little watercolour palette and new watercolour sketchbook. I went to a spring with a small pond and wanted to paint something with water and its reflexions. But as I observed the surroundings, a small shed and two beautiful trees with blossoms attracted my attention.
The first two sketches were made yesterday with pencil, the first an overall view and with the second I tried to find out what is really important to me.
Today, the weather was cloudier. First, I did a sketch with "graphite aquarelle" pencils and a waterbrush. This was a nice experience; you can make something like a tonal study with these pencils. And after that, the first outdoor watercolour sketch since years! To be honest, when I started this last sketch, I didn't have a plan how to go on... but as I was painting, I realized that all the practice I've been doing lately has paid off: get along with a limited palette, use a lot of water, paint with few brush-strokes e.g.
There is still enough to improve, but I'm very happy with the result of my first outdoor watercolour sketch.
Any comments are welcome...āŗļø

Thank you Marco for your kind comments. Working with the Aquarelle graphite pencils is so much fun - I got to know them through your post in February š
I don't know yet if I'll do a final painting - but then I'll definitely think of your good advice. This would be for sure a challenge for me...
