Landscape Lines
These small studies are based on some of my larger watercolours as examples of the use of landscape lines in a composition as a means of connecting shapes and establishing perspective. They can be based on lines of distant trees, variations in colours of fields, undulating topography, shadows across the land, hills, roadways, and rivers but should be indicated as lost and found broken lines across the landscape to create variety and interest. In the third study I have added some foreground texture and contrast of value with foliage to suggest the high bank of the river.

Thanks for sharing these studies Marion - they really do convey a strong sense of the landscape that you articulate. Great work!
