How cheap can you go?
Just as an experiment, I bought a set of ‘natural hair’ art brushes from Aldi the other day, during their specials day dedicated to art supplies. A set of 5 round brushes in sizes 2, 4, 6, 8, and 12, for under $5 (Australian)? Yes, of course it was immediately ringing alarm bells - “ don’t waste your money” my brain kept telling me - “treat your to a coffee instead”, but they looked so nice in the packet… so i grabbed a set anyway. In case you’re wondering, I just wanted to grab a couple of their cheap watercolour pads for making colour swatches and stuff. - I don’t really consider Aldi as a source of anything that has the word ‘quality’ in its description, unless it is prefixed by the word ‘poor’…
So, I got the brushes home and washed the nasty gummy stuff out of them, that was holding them in a nice looking pointy pose that we all crave in our brushes, and this is what happened 😆
It just goes to prove - you get (exactly) what you pay for.
I guess the #12 will be ok for mixing paints, transporting water, and scrubbing on dried up half pans to get some colour out of them…, but as for the rest, probably the bin 😄

Thanks Marion - just ask my wife… despite my threats, I never throw anything away (packing up 20 years worth of ‘just in case’ stuff in the garage, ready for our move, was a huge undertaking ! Luckily, the paint brushes didn't add a huge overhead.)
We are moving to the lower mountains area - Winmalee. Much as we love the upper mountains, I’m not sure we could hack the constant presence of tourists wherever you go.
