Last Light, Lochranza Castle, Isle of Arran, Scottish Isles

This is a painting I did recently from a photo I took on the Isle of Arran. I tried to get the reflections in the still water and the lovely rocks on the shoreline detail and the glow of the sun going down in the distance.

This is a really lovely painting. I particularly like how you have handled the beach and rocks in the foreground, with a subtle diagonal pointing the eye to the castle. The only small things I would question are:

  1. For me the boat on the extreme left does not add anything and could easily have been omitted without detriment to the composition.

  2. The reflection of the mountain could have had a slightly softer edge, especially just to the right of the castle's reflection.

But, honestly these are small quibbles in the context of the whole painting.
