The Wall

Must confess that I've hit a wall. My work is far worse today than it was 3 years ago. Just watched Ollie's youtube video warning against relying too much on paint-along tutorials and techniques. I've got way too many colors and way too many paper types. Am forcing myself to go back to basics - a limited palette, practicing washes, lines, color, and composition. Experimentation, observation, and PRACTICE. I'm also reminding myself about why I love to render landscapes in watercolor.

What a wonderfully positive attitude, Patricia. I am confident that you will have increased enjoyment as time goes by and your practice exercises reap great benefits and help you with your eventual goals of painting landscapes. But I imagine that you are finding the exercises themselves are becoming more and more enjoyable.
