Rocks

I’ve been fascinated by the ongoing rock discussion. This rainy afternoon, I decided to play around. I used blotting paper to lift out areas of wet paint to create varied rock surfaces. I’ve always been too heavy handed for the credit card scrape approach. I found the blotting paper to be very gentle to the watercolor paper. It can be torn or left with a crisp edge to create different effects. After lifting, I went in with some accent tones along some edges. Lots of fun. I used blotting paper sold for flower blotting for herbariums, but I image the old fashioned blotters paper we used to use with fountain pens would work too.

Thanks, Marco. Like yourself, I have been inspired by the forum to explore watercolor expression and embrace the whimsy of creation.
