The use of intuitive painting

I thought I'd share my thoughts on how I practise shape, form and feeling for balance. I paint a free landscape by just putting on paint and after first wash trying to make a familiar scene and to create some balance among shapes and tone.

I believe it teaches me to respond quickly..? Aswell as to mix colours who harmonise. (I hope..) How do you do it? Besides tutorials and books?

That’s an interesting approach; I’ve never tried it. I usually try to work out a balanced composition using sketches beforehand, and I often create color sketches afterwards as well; that helps me visualize the individual steps of the process. It’s not as intuitive as your method, though, so I’m going to give your approach a try.
