Copies of watercolours

Hi everyone,

I still see some artists try to post copied works — and maybe they’re not yet aware of the forum guidelines, so I just want to clarify.

On this platform, we don’t allow copies of other artists' work.

Most submissions come through my phone, and I manually approve them. When I spot a copy, I don’t let it through.

At the beginning of the forum, we were more relaxed about it, and copies were sometimes posted. But both Oliver and I feel strongly that copying other artists — or following paint-alongs — isn’t something we want to encourage here.

Why? Because it can actually block your growth as an artist. When you always follow someone else's subject, format, colours, and composition, you miss out on developing your own creative decision-making.

The only ones truly benefiting from the "Become a Master in 3 Months" type programs are the companies behind them. You're far better off buying a good sketchbook and practising — a lot!

Take a look at Oliver’s or my YouTube channel. Learn the techniques and try them out in your own work. That’s where the real progress happens.

Happy painting!
