Somewhere in England
Hello, forum friends.
I took the referance photo from the train, going back to London, from Falmouth. The day before it had been the infamous "hottest day on record" in most of the UK, but luckily we dodged the worst heatwave in the far south west. When we arrived in London, we found the city at a refreshing 29 degrees (C)!
I love the English landscape, and I wanted to have a go at a "typical" summer scene, where my main goal was to practise painting a (mostly) grey sky, a bit of a tricky perspective, distance and depth, as well as mixing nuances of greens, different kind of trees, and - cows!! All in all I'm really happy with this, I must say! Didn't pour as much colour on as I usually do, and I think that made for a calmer scene. This is much closer to how I want to paint than what I've painted before, I think. Well, not happy about the cows, obviously, but they were my first ever cows in watercolours, and I expect them to improve after a few more attempts!
Would love to hear what you think, and as usual, any feedback will be very welcome! How can I ground the cows better, make them blend more into the field? Do the trees in the middle ground work, or should they be softer, cooler? Let me know!

Edit:
A week later I had another go at this scene, the result of which you can see below:

Nice one Eric. A good feeling of recession in the landscape. I think it's worth trying the same painting again. I have unto 4 goes of the same painting in my file and , using Pages, I've mounted the photos on one screen so I can see progress... if any!
