Simplifying an image

So I took some photos of the little harbour in my town. I like this composition with the boats, their masts, the bridge on the horizon and the atmosphere of a calm sunset. But I am overwhelmed by the clutter, especially on the right. There are boats, jetty's, a truck, cars, I can't even see what's what. How would you begin to filter out all the clutter and just leave what's needed. I'm thinking of leaving it all out except for one jetty and maybe one boat or put a tree next to the building... Ok as I'm typing this I think a plan is already forming, funny how that works. I will send this anyway because I would love to hear how would you tackle this?
