Grey skies

Can anyone reccoment a grey that I can use for skies where the whole sky is grey or dark grey. I have been useing Ultramairine and Burnt umber to create greys and blacks since I started and mostly this works well, especially for very light greys and small darker areas. However to create a large dark sky I have problems with the pigments sepperating and /or becoming grainy when dry, possibly pigments settling within the texture of rough paper. All suggestions welcome.

I have used a premixed gray called "Moonglow" by DS. David Ballemy recommended this color in a couple of his books I have and I gave it a try. It is graduating, but if you are using on CP, it is not as granulating. Per the tube, the color is a mixture of viridian, UM, anthraquinoid red if you want to mix it yourself. He wrote that the approximation to moonglow is a mix of FUM+cad red. I tried to mix the color myself, but it didn't come close to moonglow, so I ended up buying. H.
