What's your favorite watercolor sketchbook? I've tried many; each seems to have its advantages and disadvantages, and I haven't settled on one that I really love. Looking for something affordable and not too precious, and which takes pencil and ink well, in addition to serious watercolor washes. I'd appreciate hearing what you like best, and why -- manufacturer, size, binding type, paper weight, white or ivory, etc. Even better, post a pic or two of your sketches in your favorite book! I bought this book on Amazon -- it's called Tavolazza and it's about 8 inches square. The paper is surprisingly good and it wasn't too expensive, but I don't love the square format.

This is a Strathmore Visual Journal with 140 lb. watercolor paper, 9 x 12 inches. I like these a lot, in part because they have a hard cover that's great for travel and plein air, and they're pretty inexpensive.

This is a Pentalic watercolor sketchbook about 7 x 9 inches, also with a nice hard cover. These are really good and not too expensive here in the US. The sketch is of Pedernal, the sacred mountain in New Mexico that Georgia O'Keefe painted many times, and in fact the sketch was made from Ghost Ranch, where she lived and worked. Now that I've been following Edo, I realize that I didn't use enough water for this sketch!

This is Strathmore 300 Mixed Media paper. I like the surface of this paper a lot, but it's too light to handle a real wash. This one is about 6 x 8.5 inches.
