Late comment. Check out Richard Musgrave Evans. He is an Australian landscape artist, works with thick oils and pallet knives. Obviously not watercolor, his use of color, with a relatively limited pallet, is really intriguing. after watching many of his videos, I find myself finding color and what I thought was a drab landscape.
