Signing a painting

This question seems minor when I'm working on larger issues like composition, color, and technique. But it crosses my mind every time I complete something. I've signed my paintings so far with a Pigma Micron (01) pen because I cannot figure out how to do it with paint. Perhaps that is just fine. But, I've tried various riggers and a #0 round and various densities of paint. I've practiced without any uniformity or predictability of outcome (or readability).

So here are four questions: 1) What sort of brush or technique are others finding success with? 2) Is there a convention regarding using one's full name vs. initials or adding a date, or are these purely up to the artist? 3) Should paint color choice for the signature always be one used in the painting or doesn't that matter? 4) Is there guidance on where or how big to sign, such as normally being the same size and placement or it should vary according to the painting (as if trying to make it unobtrusive)? Thank you all for any input!

I sign my name with a dip pen and watercolor. I’m too shaky to make a good signature with a brush unless the painting is on a full sheet.
