How to incorporate a sun with a defined shape into your wash?

Good day everyone, I am hoping you can provide some advice. I am working on a painting of a foggy sunrise over water. The hazy blue sky fades into the hazy orange of the area around the sun which is 2/3 down the page. The sun has three concentric circles around the white centre fading from bright yellow to orange. I have been playing with the order of how I should lay the variegated wash and the sun so that the light from the sun blends seemlessly into the sky and whether I should use wet on wet or wet on dry. I have looked at many tutorials but there are very few where the sun is prominent in the painting. My questions are: 1) would it be best to begin with the sun and work circularly away from the centre adjusting the colour as I go phasing into curved strokes as I go further up in the sky.? 2) if I do wet on wet how do I preserve the strong colours of the sun rings while still encouraging the outer ring to blend into the sky. 3) would it be best to overlay the purple fog as a glaze after the underpainting is dry or blend it into the wash? I will appreciate any advice you may have to share. Thank you
