Spring Arrival Boston Public Garden

Three weeks later as the foliage is more developed. For this version I reverted to  Arches 140 lb. Cold Press.

This is a sketch of the willows beginning to leaf out at the Boston Public Garden. I used Arches 140 lb. Rough to help capture the foliage of the willows. I don't work with this paper very often. I might try a similar scene using cold press paper or wait another week until the foliage is a little more robust.

Seija, See the later painting. With more leaves and different sun position, there were shadows on the lawn. I think this addresses your original comment. I'm going to continue the series in different weather conditions as the year progresses. I'm hoping for a misty day with the willows fully leafed out.
