Old Dairy

I seem to prefer landscapes with buildings for my own painting. This is second attempt to paint the old dairy by the church in our village. It is long since out of use for handling milk and cheese, but is nowadays creative summer home for a famous textile designer. Luckily it is not renovated to death, as most old houses bought up by city people around the area. So all the old stuff is left, like the high brick chimney and the rusty cylinder which I don't know the use of. I always liked the view and painted this from a sketch I made on site last summer. Size is 18x27 cm on Fabriano Artistico 300gsm rough paper.

As usual I appreciate all comments and suggestions.

This is a delightful scene Kerstin. I absolutely love the roof on the long building. Your choice of palette is also well chosen. As Paul has said, perhaps some dry brush on the trees, or at least some "sky holes" in them. I too love painting landscapes with old buildings in them, unfortunately, where I live a lot of properties have been bought by people outside the area, who then, as you say, renovate them to death, without any empathy with the character of the building and it's surroundings. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your post. Excellent picture!
