Lone street lamp lighting the way

On my walk from the station to my drawing lessons in Haarlem I pass this lone street lamp that begins a stretch of road that follows the train tracks for a while. It looks so serene. I couldnt resist making a painting of it. I love painting nocturnes and ignored places like this. The greys are made with varying mixes of viridian and rose madder. For the sky I couldn't resist using my tube of DS Moonglow (their most popular selling mix evidently! - yes I know Daniel Smith forgive me Edo ;-). I also used this masking fluid pen from Sennelier (for the fence gates) which was kinda fun.

Ominous - yes good word, perhaps it appealed to me as it could be a setting in a movie.
