Controlling the wash exercise.
Hope it is OK to post these here. I have gone right back to basics in order to gain confidence and reboot my watercolour efforts. As Olliver suggested, I have repeated the same exercise many times and on a wide variety of papers I happen to have hanging about. I was frustrated at first as nothing I tried was remotely like his, but then I saw Endo’s wonderfully helpful post of 3 of his works done on different papers from St Cuthberts Mill and realised Millford, which Oliver was using but I don’t have, reacts in a unique way. Looking at my efforts, I can see I have made some progress, and, importantly, I have decided I like the results I get on Bockingford best - which I good news as it is very affordable AND It works for our very fine watercolourist!

I can't see wat the paper is on the top example. An interesting exercise.
