Museum Quarter Parking

Another late nighter, this is in The Hague just around the corner from the last painting with the statue. I liked how the underground parking site was all lit up, quite surreal at night. The building on the right is the old US embassy designed by Bauhaus Architect Marcel Breuer, he was obsessed with trapeziums, hence the windows. It had been their embassy for 60 or so years until 2016 when they moved and it is now a really interesting gallery space, fascinating to wonder around and see the history of what it was.

Revelation of this one, the pigment 'terre verte' I think its literally made of earth - its transparent and very granular but just seems to add a level of realism to everything its mixed with. Really exciting to paint with.

Thankyou. Its a little bigger than A4. The fence I painted negatively as much as I could, then I usually pull out paint with a damp flat synthetic. But also in this case the reflections were scraped outwith a sharp scalpel blade.
