Nowhere in particular
This is a strip of non-descript park on my way from the station to my drawing class in Haarlem. I was struck by the lone streetlight that acts as a 'grow lamp' for the sapling to its side. It amused me. I am also drawn to these non-places, i think you can find beauty everywhere, in the dark of night I felt this place revealed something to me.

Thankyou, I love painting these nocturnes. It was painted in two stages, the sky, shadow, grass, road washes all going down in one go (I masked out the lights). Once dry, I painted the trees in. The little sapling is entirely pulled out from the background with a damp flat synthetic brush. I pull out paint a lot, I love the soft ethereal look that can give in these sorts of scenes.
