Country Roads, Take me homeโฆ..
Around every bend there might be a surprise......
One of the loveliest things about being a practicing artist is that one develops a new way of seeing, in that your eyes are opened to truly seeing what is around you and the possibilities of beauty that you didnโt notice before when you merely looked.
As you look around you now, questions arise that sharpen and enhance your visionโฆโฆ..is that a hint of Burnt Sienna in that far field, which blue would render that sky best, how would one achieve that glint upon the water in the marsh? Everything begins to take on an enhanced visual meaning.
Painting bestows the gift of Seeing. Of course, one has looked around all oneโs life. Our sight is the way we make our way in the world. But art, particularly if we are the artist, is the way we make our way through our spirit, which helps it to grow.
And so it is, with this new perspective, around every bend you might come upon something that cries out to be recorded through your brush and paint. The world holds lovely surprises that it didnโt hold for you before.
However, if you are like me, if no paint and paper is to hand, or you donโt have enough time to stop and paint as you are passing by, you can still more fully enjoy the scene before you because you are seeing it through the eyes of an artist and enjoying the view differently than before you took up the brush.
Have you noticed a change in your vision since you started to paint?

Yes, I certainly look around me and think how I could paint what's before me. This is such a happy, sunny picture, it made me smile. As winter closes in, it is lovely to look at such a sunny picture. Thankyou.
