Riverside scene

Much of this is an amalgamation of different scenes. The tree, possibly struck by lightening I saw while driving around the Midlands a week or so ago. It is probably an oak. The rest is drawn from several different places. I wanted to paint the tree but where it actually was wan not at all pretty, Amazon warehouses etc. so replaced is with distant trees. Comments and advice always welcome.

Checkout this guys YT channel. He lives down the road from me, I don't know him personally, but he's rather brilliant. He paints predominantly urban scenes and has a lot of clever techniques. Most of the movies are in English. After watching these I drummed up the confidence to have a go at something other than trees. He uses a strip of paper as a ruler to draw lines, I do this now, its a simple but very effective way to get some feeling into straight lines.
