Tonal sketch to painting from Ollies exercise.

So this is my first step at painting from tonal sketch and found it a real help in simplifying my thought process around colour choice. This is also the first time I've painted without referencing a photo whilst painting. I'm still at the stage where I want to replicate the colours in a photo rather than let my mind free flow. So again I found this tonal sketch a great help in detaching from that. The scene is from one of Ollies tutorials, so still relying on them for guidance, but I feel the tonal sketch has started to lessen my reliance on them. All comments welcome.

Reply to Grainne's comment: What a great idea to turn your painting into black and white. I must go and try this out. I have also seen advice to hold it up to a mirror to judge balance. The comment on darkening the foreground is one of the important rules to give perspective. A wonderful critique.
